Roses River Memorial at Harlingen, TX

1th  March. 2021
On March 1, Rose River Memorial is meeting up with Covid Victims Remembered to host a display for the local Harlingen, Texas community on the side of a COVID-19 refrigeration truck in the Rio Grande Valley.

The truck will offer visitors an opportunity to grieve by contemplating handcrafted roses, each symbolizing a life lost, and the roses will be accompanied by a COVID-19 themed mural painted by local emerging artist Matthew Flores. Visitors will be invited to write the names of loved ones on a canvas on the side of the truck, so as to turn the project into a living memorial of those locally lost to this devastating pandemic. “We are so motivated to create this art memorial project, particularly as our dad was lost to COVID-19, and caused us such sadness within our family (my dad was a lover of art and had a smile that would light up the room),” said Jennifer Gonzales. “The installation will be a unique place where people can come together and grieve.
